Oases are rare and temporary in this universe

We living things are born to age and die. Along the way we go through episodes of growth and decline, happiness and sadness, even joy and despair. If we are lucky, we find many oases of, at least, contentment, however temporary.

Our little planet is, itself, an oasis in a vast and dangerous universe.
But on it there are many hazards, including some of our fellow humans.

Some of us are bent on destroying oases, whether out of anger and resentment or out of inadvertence. Our planetary oasis itself is at risk.

As things change in destructive ways, it is all too easy to fall into despair.

An antidote to that despair is to build new oases.
