I feel your dilemma. I was born in the US and educated with the ideals of the country many there still believe is the "Greatest Country on Earth." Sadly, the events of the 1960s popped that bubble for me, and I moved to Canada. That turned out to be one of the best life decisions I've ever made. There's a whole, habitable world out here beyond the inward-reflecting boundaries of the US. I'm happy to be away from the angry, racist, militaristic, gun-loving culture that has been adopted by so many people there, including the current President.
