That's the dilemma lots of us have. Amazon sells things that we can't find anywhere else. Rare computer technology is an example. Only on Amazon was I able to find a USB to old-style printer plug converter to keep my 30-year-old HP laser printer running.

For me the convenience is not a big part. Delivery on the porch is more a worry about possible theft than an attraction. Whenever we can, we buy locally, but that's not always possible.

Of course we can always question whether we really need the things we buy. That's a separate, but equally important issue. If many of us decided that we need a lot fewer things than we current buy, that could make a big change.

And you're right that many politicians are neglecting their duty to regulate and tax mega corporations like Amazon.
