The conceptual counterpart of seeing faces everywhere is attributing mysterious events to human-like agency. Some people explain temporary disappearances of household objects to myschievous spirits of dead people, rather than their own faulty perception and memory. Similarly, mysterious natural phenomena used to be explained by gods and demi-gods, like Sol or the "West Wind". It seems that we have an anti-blindspot of intelligent agency.
