In order to maintain the cultural idea that aggressive war is unacceptable

We humans act as groups of social animals based on shared beliefs about how we should act. Those shared beliefs constitute parts of our cultures, and they are often recorded in written documents to enable us to remember them.

After the appalling events of the two World Wars, the United Nations Charter recorded a shared belief of many people that aggressive warfare is an unacceptable way for groups of people, including nations, to behave. That shared belief has become part of our world culture. As individuals, we need to be reminded regularly of that shared belief, if we are to avoid further violent harm to many people.

With the invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Federation, led by its President, Vladimir Putin, is causing grievous harm by aggressive warfare to many people, contrary to the shared cultural belief expressed in the United Nations Charter. Therefore, we as individual humans who share that cultural belief must support the people of Ukraine and oppose the actions of the Russian Federation in this war, if we are to maintain our shared cultural belief in the unacceptability of aggressive warfare.
