Well there's a big difference between people about what they mean by a "god". As an atheist myself, I have to acknowledge that the universe is much more vast and mysterious than I, poor human ape, can fully comprehend. Some people call that vastness and mystery "God". I don't mind that.

It's when they start to attribute specific properties to their God -- such as an interest in our individual human lives -- that I can no longer follow them. I find it no more plausible that a "God" is interested in my individual human life as it is that that "God" is interested in the individual life of a squirrel.
